Package: libanyevent-rabbitmq-perl
Version: 1.17~dfsg-1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable
Dear Maintainer,
while trying to execute a simple RabbitMQ sample script [1], I have
faced an error which makes AnyEvent-RabbitMQ unusable.
The error message:
EV: error in callback (ignoring): Can't locate object method
"bind_exchange" via package "AnyEvent::RabbitMQ::Channel"
Installing AnyEvent-RabbitMQ via CPAN (CPAN version 1.19) solved the
issue. Unfortunately I cannot proceed with this solution in production
due to "security" reglementations (only rely on the distribution package
repository).
As of now AnyEvent-RabbitMQ (Debian version 1.17~dfsg-1) is unusable
because one of the most required calls fails (the method cannot be
"looked up").

These methods were added upstream in 1.18:
https://metacpan.org/diff/file?target=BOBTFISH%2FAnyEvent-RabbitMQ-1.18%2F&source=BOBTFISH%2FAnyEvent-RabbitMQ-1.17%2F
In Debian, the first version containing them is 1.19-1. [0]
I'm closing the bug with this version (the BTS still knows that
earlier versions are affected).
Since I have no idea about RabbitMQ I can't comment on the importance
of (un)bind_exchange and hence on the bug severity or how to proceed
with this bug in stable. - Jonas maybe?
On a practical note re "only distribution packages": Can you install
the package from testing?
Cheers,
gregor
