B+R would work fine if they were correctly versioned: Package: limba Version: 0.4.2-1 Replaces: listaller (<< 0.5.9-4~) Breaks: listaller (<< 0.5.9-4~) $ rmadison listaller debian: listaller | 0.5.5-2 | wheezy | source, ... listaller | 0.5.9-4 | jessie-kfreebsd | source, ... listaller | 0.5.9-4 | jessie | source, ... listaller | 0.5.9-4 | stretch | source, ... the version just removed from sid was 0.5.9-4 as well, so you probably wanted (<< 0.5.9-5~), but given the fact that listaller is (to be) removed, unversioned B+R would work as well (the lintian warning about them can be ignored).
