Using Debian Sid:
apt-get install evolution (updating from an older version)
evolution updated to evolution 3.12.11
then it fails at start:
evolution: symbol lookup error: evolution: undefined symbol: e_file_lock_get_pid
* What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
ineffective)?
apt-get install libevolution fixes that problem
Unpacking libevolution (3.12.11-1) over (3.12.9~git20141130.241663-1+b1) ...
I think evolution must depend on the same libevolution version,
currently it depends on
Depends: [snip] libevolution (>= 3.12), libevolution (<< 3.13)...
