I'm both upstream and the debian maintainer here, so that's normal. Thanks for YOUR input. I will upload shortly a version with the proper fix, actually checking whether it is possible to cast between the two function pointer types in configure, and implement the size_t specialization conditionally based on that. For the record, C++11 provides std::is_same that could be used to determine whether size_t is a typedef to unsigned long, when Gyoto drops support for non-C++11-compliant compilers.
