A much smaller change would just to add the following file in the cron.hourly directory (not tested): ====8<==== #!/bin/sh /usr/sbin/invoke-rc.d anacron start >/dev/null ====8<==== Of course, my proposed patches would requires that the machine is turned on at xx:00 at least once a day. And apparently some people wants to use anacron without a cron implementation, this would not solve this bug for them either. We could also add a .service file in the sleep.target, this was mentioned once on #d-systemd, but I'm not sure what was the issue with that solution (if any?). I'm personally not a fan of having the cronjobs calling a initscript, but that's probably just me and outside of the scope of this bug. So if somebody has a better solution...
