I've analyzed the log and found the issue (test comparison failed due to capitalization issues in the word USER vs user). With the help of upstream a patch has been produced and I've tested it and pushed it in commit http://anonscm.debian.org/cgit/pkg-mysql/mariadb-10.0.git/commit/?id=8f5470f7d7d60368c1e4a9d270addcd7205f2f71
