Is there a way that we can get more details about this? For example, can we get you try running the noted transition script (/usr/share/monkeysphere/transitions/0.23) manually as root on the affected system? I've only seen this happen when the filesystem being used for /var is so close to full that root can make changes, but non-root users cannot create files (e.g. the space left is less than the reserved blocks specified by mkfs.ext4 -m). If this is the case, then it's true that monkeysphere will fail to install, but it's a matter of unavailable system resources, not a bug in the monkeysphere package. --dkg
