JFTR the globus-core has been renamed to globus-common, so you should change the call:
pkg-config --cflags globus-core to: pkg-config --cflags globus-common However I did the most simple thing to do and removed the patch that enforced usage of pkg-config and the package builds just fine. The package is now uploaded to DELAYED/0 as the bug didn't show any activity for ~14 days and it's a RC bug.
