Just my 2c: I had the same problem, and only upgrading to the new packages (0.33-2 and 8-3) wasn't enough. #764991 was involved too (as when I remount mount entries stuff got better, but not fixed).
In the end I upgraded the kernel from 3.14 to 3.16 - which required a reboot, and I suspect that helped the most (I didn't try a plain reboot with 3.14).
