We don't want to get rid of the DEB_AUTO_UPDATE; I had been hoping there
was an option to say 'use the latest', more or less.  Looking at another
package I've done, 'DEB_AUTO_UPDATE_AUTOCONF=true' is all I've got in
it.

You can upload the NMU if you want, the DEB_AUTO_UPDATE stuff isn't a
huge deal (until 1.9 is being replaced by 2.0 or whatever anyway).
