Builds of apophenia with automake 1.14.1, as currently found in both unstable and testing, have been failing: Makefile.am:24: error: HAVE_LD_VERSION_SCRIPT does not appear in AM_CONDITIONAL Automake also issues many warnings of the form automake: warning: source file '$(top_builddir)/eg/apop_map_row.c' is in a subdirectory, automake: but option 'subdir-objects' is disabled which you might also want to consider addressing, if only to cut down on noise.
