Package: debtags
Version: 1.12.1
Severity: normal

Hi,

'debtags update --local', which is what is executed by
/etc/apt/apt.conf.d/80debtags after each APT update, skips
apt:// (the default source) and results in an empty (erased)
tags database.

# debtags update
# ll /var/lib/debtags
total 3080
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 514928 sept. 21 14:20 debtags-fetch-
apt.tag.gz
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 16852 sept. 21 14:20 debtags-fetch-
apt.voc.gz
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 2548395 sept. 21 14:20 package-tags
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 65267 sept. 21 14:20 vocabulary
# debtags update --local --verbose
System source directory: /var/lib/debtags
User source directory: /root/.debtags
Skipping apt:// since --local is used
# ll /var/lib/debtags/
total 0
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 0 sept. 21 14:21 package-tags
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 0 sept. 21 14:21 vocabulary

Skipping apt:// seems to be the intended behaviour but I can’t
see why because, if it is, that means I have to launch 'debtags
update' before a search because the tags database is
automatically erased after each update of APT….
Feel free to enlighten me :o)

 debtags (1.12.2) unstable; urgency=medium
 .
   * Reimplemented update to always get tags from apt only. Merging databases
was not really used, YAGNI, and it's time to simplify the overengineered
     debtags design. Closes: #762347.
   * Removed unused XS-Testsuite: autopkgtest. Closes: #728683
   * Updated standards-version, no changes required.
