You reported that you were able to reproduce this build failure with libdevice-serialporl-perl 1.002-0.2, but this version has successfully built on all archs (except s390 where it shouldn't be). At this point, the package is *not* running make test, but is instead simply checking for the presence of a serial device node in /dev/; it's arguable whether this is the correct check, but why does your pbuilder chroot not have /dev/ttyS1 when all of the buildds do have it? I'm inclined to believe this is a pbuilder-specific bug, and should therefore not be RC.
