Desription: On AMD64-Kernel the module "ipw2100" let the system extremly slow
down (or crash at startup)
whenever the firmware is going to be loaded (the firmware is correctly
installed under /usr/lib/hotplug/)

This is only on 64-bit-systems. On 32-bit-systems it works fine (tested with
lifefilesystem "WHAX 3.0",

a Debian based wardrive distribution)

I suppose an incompability with the 32-bit-firmware on 64-bit-kernels.

This behaviour is the same on older kernels (2.6.8 - 2.6.12), when
ipw2100-sources had to be compiled as

a additional kernel module (on 64-bit-systems)
