Hi, all this suggests that the TBB dev team might not be fully aware of the torbrowser-launcher's needs.
In my experience working on Tails, once the TBB team was aware of our "special needs", they started communicating to us pro-actively before doing changes that could potentially break our usecases. I suspect the same could possibly happen for TBL :) On the other hand, it might also be that they'll consider TBL as a temporary hack, that will be quickly superseded by their upcoming upgrade system, and not worth adding more blocking steps to their dev and release processes.
