How did you fail that? I reviewed his package at https://mentors.debian.net/package/plplot and IIRC the only main issues left were the upstream inclusion of prebuilt javascript files (jquery et al). There are multiple ways to mitigate this. At least the jquery issue is seen very differently under Debian developers. I'm though likely not able to sponsor the (fixed or workarounded) package the next few days as I'm currently travelling. So feel free to sponsor it, if you have time. I'd be happy about it. I can forward you my findings this evening, if preferred. I'd take care of the next GDL upload then in a few days.
