342740 is a bug indicating that this behavior results from using pgxs to
indicate the compiler to use.

I don't get it.  Why should *any* Debian package be depending on pgxs to
tell it what compiler to use?  Why shouldn't postgresql-pljava not be fixed
to call gcc directly, if it can be built with it?
