Builds of erlang-xmlrpc strictly as packaged, with no .git tree, have
been failing:

Stopping at filesystem boundary (GIT_DISCOVERY_ACROSS_FILESYSTEM not set).
Please ensure that such builds still have the necessary information
available; those messages suggest that it could go in some sort of
app_vars_file.
