I disagree. Good luck ... The process of builkding and assemblying fonts to proper otf/ttf/pfb is a non-trivial and non-automated task. We on TeX Live consider *upstream* (that is what is Up-upstream for Debian/TeX Live) what is uploaded to CTAN. Anyway, good luck in your quest ..
