On second thought, there are probably some corner cases; for one this needs to be done in src:ruby-defaults, and we must ensure that 1.8 never gets configured again after the preinst runs. I don't see how to guarantee that whatever workaround we come up with won't break in a random way. I'd be much more comfortable with readding the Conflicts on ruby1.8. -- ,''`.
