I had the same problem upgrading from 2.00-22 to 2.02~beta2-5. I am using LVM and UEFI in that computer, and I think that the problem is related to UEFI. I solved this using some recent version of debian testing installer from an USB drive and in the rescue mode: 'dpkg-reconfigure grub-efi-amd64'. If then I run 'dpkg-reconfigure grub-efi-amd64' from the local system, grub is unable to boot again.
