I was having issues with simple-scan : on one box, it was working
perfectly (through a scanner on a server), and on another box, it wasn't
(through the same scanner on the same server) : everything seemed to
work, but the resulting pdf was unreadable.
Then I realized that on the machine where it worked, the menus were in
english, and on the other, in french.
In fact, it seems simple-scan is writing the data using localized
functions, so numbers end up with a comma where english people would put
a point : this makes the pdf unreadable.
For example, in french, we write "pi=3,14159" where english write
"pi=3.14159".
Workaround: launch simple-scan as "LANG=C simple-scan"
Solution: simple-scan should write the data to disk without using the
locale.

According to upstream's changelog, this issue has been fixed in
2.32.0.1. Since 2.32.0.1 and later are available in Debian, I'm closing
this bug. Should this issue still exists, feel free to reopen it.
