This workaround does not work for me. I've also purged every
non-standard libpam* packages but libpam-gnome-keyring and
libpam-systemd.

I'm running current sid with systemd as pid 1, and libpam-systemd is
installed. Attaching the relevant log files. Note "libGL error: failed
to load driver: i965" in :0-greeter.log, that might indicate an issue
with permissions on /dev/dri/card0 or something.
