Hi,
HAL has been deprecated and declared dead upstream so we want to
get rid of it eventually in Debian [1].
Looking through the code, Hal seems to be used in
applets/maintained/battery/battery.py to display battery status
information.
Please port this code to upower, which is the modern replacement for
power management nowadays. It provides a D-Bus interface and is
available on non-Linux architectures like kfreebsd.
