I wan't to confirm this problem. We have several wheezy installations (s390 and s390x) running unter z/VM 5.4 on IBM System z 196 EC and all suffer from this problem. Some systems started to hang after few minutes, others kept running for days or weeks before the problem occured.
In PerfKit the hanging systems are shown to go high on CPU usage. There is no I/O activity to devices. Memory usage is normal, so OOM can't be the cause of the problem. I've build custom kernels with Aurelien's patch applied and installed them on all our wheezy systems two days ago. No hangs so far.
