That's fair, though in that case I'd suggest temporarily marking all the
symbols as optional rather than dropping them altogether, to avoid
yielding unnecessarily strict dependencies (even if the difference is
marginal in this case).

Regardless, you will need at least a stub .symbols file to enable data
collection in the first place.
