I guess we really need a lintian error for this (well it's in progress), since the direct method of installing to /etc/php5/conf.d was obsoleted in wheezy. But I am not good of communicating this to downstream modules.
>From jessie, the modules need to install the conf file to /etc/php5/mods-available and use php5{en,dis}mod to enable/disable the module. Using dh_php5 (+ dh_phppear) is preferred method of doing this now. I will fix php5-imagick if Guillaume will not fix this himself in couple of days. O.
