Not that I am aware of, but I maybe you want to hear from one of the regular kdenlive devs. Yes, it is still compatible with ffmpeg executable. The Config Wizard looks for various helpers, and it first searches for ffmpeg and if that is not found, searches for avconv. Also, the wizard is re-run upon first launch after an upgrade.
