I'm primarily concerned with the upgrade path from squeeze. Embperl is in maintenance mode and has had a hard time keeping up with new versions of Perl and mod_perl in the past, so not too much in the way of new upstream versions / features that would be missed. Providing any - even an isolated - version that works on wheezy is an improvement on the current state.
