Package: amarok
Version: 1.3.5-1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Hi,

According to what I read in bug report #337754, debian testing
users are supposed to install the version from unstable (since
there is no testing version of amarok). Fine.

Here is what I get when I try to install amarok (I swiched the
output to english for the bug report):

[EMAIL PROTECTED] olivier > export LANG=en
[EMAIL PROTECTED] olivier > apt-get install amarok/unstable
amarok-engines/unstable amarok-arts/unstable amarok-gstreamer/unstable
amarok-xine/unstable
Reading package lists... Done

Selected version 1.3.6-1 (Debian:unstable) for amarok-gstreamer
Selected version 1.3.6-1 (Debian:unstable) for amarok-xine
Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
  amarok: Depends: libstdc++6 (>= 4.0.2-3) but 4.0.2-2 is to be installed
  amarok-arts: Depends: libstdc++6 (>= 4.0.2-3) but 4.0.2-2 is to be
installed
  amarok-gstreamer: Depends: libstdc++6 (>= 4.0.2-3) but 4.0.2-2 is to be
installed
  amarok-xine: Depends: libstdc++6 (>= 4.0.2-3) but 4.0.2-2 is to be
installed
E: Broken packages
[EMAIL PROTECTED] olivier >

Of course, I've tried to add "libstdc++6/unstable" to my query, but this
results in swiching to debian unstable (upgrade gcc, all kde stuff, etc.).

NB: I have no idea of the reason why there is no amarok package in testing.
Maybe this bug report is not politically correct... ;)

So is there a way to install amarok on Debian testing?

Cheers

Olivier

  It does not say that in that bug report. If amarok is not in testing,
  that does not mean that the version in unstable is suitable for
  testing... Most likely it will be not.

> Here is what I get when I try to install amarok (I swiched the

  FWIW, I attach an explanation I gave to an user who contacted me
  privately about this same problem. Hope it helps to you.

  --------------------------------8<----------------------------------
  Assuming (which seems the most likely scenario to me) that you:

    - run testing
    - have upgraded to KDE 3.4.2
    - your libsqlite3-0 version is >> 3.2.5

  Then your safest bet (which I recommend) is to fetch amarok 1.3.5-1
  from:

    http://snapshot.debian.net/package/amarok

  Beware that'll you be affected by #337109 (last.fm submission not
  being saved while offline).

  To solve it, you _could_ fetch 1.3.6-1 from unstable, but I really
  really don't recommend that, since you'd have to pull the new
  libstdc++6 as well, which has a nasty bug.

  Cheers,
