Package: capi4hylafax Version: 1:01.03.00.99.svn.300-17 Severity: serious Justification: Policy 2.2.1 The main archive area
Hi good to see new people taking care packages. Thanks. You see isdnactivecards (in contrib) is listed as the first automatic choice for recommends. This violate Policy 2.2.1. There are only 2 packages which violates this policy text in 2.2.1 this way now in our archive. This package is one of it. (Another one is flexbackup which has no active maintainer and was orphaned.) (There are some packages which lists non-free/contrib as alternative choices for depends and recommends. That is not good but that is another story.) What is needed to comply with policy is moving isdnactivecards from Recommends to Suggests. Please consider. You can still upload and then request "unblock" bug report filed to Package: release.debian.org. When you do this, please add short note at the top of README.Debian explaining for what hardware situation you need to install isdnactivecards and its related non-free firmwares. As I see this program, user needs to read files in /usr/share/doc/capi4hylafax such as README.html and README.Debian to use this package. So user will not be affected in any negative way. I know this is not violation of wheezy release policy which ignores dependency in recommends but still serious bug. http://release.debian.org/wheezy/rc_policy.txt So this serious bug can be ignored and get into wheezy. But why not make this clean. -- System Information: Debian Release: wheezy/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (500, 'testing'), (10, 'experimental') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Foreign Architectures: i386 Kernel: Linux 3.5-trunk-amd64 (SMP w/8 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_US.utf8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.utf8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-rc-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe".
