I had thought about that.  The issue is more with particular
automatically populated values like "strength" in
wireless-settings.conf.  The others .conf files don't have any entries
like that (that I'm aware of), so they don't have the same issue.

Except for the state values.  The robust solution would be to store
those elsewhere.  The /var/lib approach is simply something achievable
now without waiting an indeterminate amount of time for that upstream
fix to happen.

What would you like me to do about the deferred nmu?
