Hey, it does not seem to be an easy question. In debian-release IRC it was more about removing it totally. But as far as this is not done, I think that fixing it now would still be good.
I think that Bart's diff is the best for now. So I reuploaded it as NMU to mentors.debian.net. But I don't know if replacing worked allready (if now, I'll try again soon).
