Hello dear maintainers !

This is probably a bug, description:

using straight debian-kernel 2.6.12-1-amd64-k8

module: ipw2100

package: ipw2100-source

Bug-description:

The module "ipw2100" is self build, using make-kpkg --append-to-version
-1-amd64-k8

Compilation went fine, and, when I do NOT use the firmware, the module
is loaded by the kernel (= insmod is successful)

When I copy the firmware to /usr/lib/hotplug/firmware/ and try to load
the module "ipw2100" ,the system hangs. Same, when I start the computer
and the module wants to be loaded.

I confirmed, to have the newest firmware. With 32-bit-systems the module
and the same firmware runs fine (tested with knoppix, kanotix and whax)

So I suppose, this might be a bug, when compiled for 64-bit-systems.

Thanks for help and best regards

Hans
