With the libwine package installed the "Wine Marlett" font replaces all
instances of the "Monospace" font (which is the default system font).
This makes any terminal windows opened under Gnome completely unusable,
as the text is replaced by a bunch of symbols.
I cannot reproduce this. Perhaps your system is outdated and this has
been fixed somewhere long ago. But "Monospace" is not a real font, it is
an alias for other fonts. I believe this alias is defined in
/etc/pango/pangox.aliases, so you could pick the actual font in your
terminal (e.g. Bitstream Vera Mono or something). Or show me your
pangox.aliases file to see how this might happen.
