I am sorry that this has not been fixed (or even really looked at). I
see no reason why it should have been magically fixed in the migration
to 5.5 and 5.1 is going away so I am reassigning it.
I am downgrading the severity to important because really the risks of
looking at outway the potential benefits this close to the freeze. We do
however have a plan. We're a going get mysql working with piuparts and
then have a good hard look at all of the init and maintenance scripts.
