I'm reassigning this bug to python-pip because since 1.1-1, python-pip bumped X-Python-Version to >= 2.7, and Zope 2.12 uses Python 2.6, thus the error message. This change seems a bit suspicious to me, especially considering that the upstream states to support >= 2.4 (according to setup.py at least) and that I could not find any reference to this change in debian/changelog unless I missed something of course ;-).
