Although I can't pin it down exactly, this looks like a problem lower down the stack to me, and Michael Vogt seems to concur: 13:23 <mvo> cjwatson: yes, its a recent regression with python-apt/apt in debian/unstable So I'll send this over to python-apt and let the apt team sort it out from there, I guess. Let me know if it somehow turns out to be a germinate bug after all.
