What exactly is the real ld? ghc works just fine with many linkers, but only if you configure and run with the same one. I'm not sure what the point of this sort of meta-questioning is, though. If there's some practical reason for it, could you explain? Do you mean that GNU gold should be bug-for-bug compatible with the libbfd-based ld? (Then I would disagree --- for example, gold does not support linker scripts, for good reasons.)
