After upgrading to python2.7 2.7.3-rc2 (building it on kfreebsd was quite a challenge), which has the upstream fix for issue 13817, I was then able to complete a build of guitarix 0.22beta2-1 on kfreebsd-i386 without this hang. The FTBFS issues with xmms2 look to be the same. This is not the same issue as #654783 (python2.7 testsuite hangs), but that issue does prevent python2.7 2.7.3-rc2 from being built yet on kFreeBSD. I'm not sure if I should reassign/close this bug until that is done... Also, building with -j1 was of no help here as waf seems to disregard it and spawn multiple threads anyway.
