Package: digikam Version: 4:2.6.0~beta1-1 Severity: serious Hi,
I upgraded digikam from 4:2.5.0-1 to 4:2.6.0~beta1-1 a few days ago. My camera does not record the orientation of the photos. So, after importing them, I always rotate the photos that require it. I do it by selecting the photo (usually shift+right arrow) and then using the shortcut shift+control+right/left arrow. Since my upgrade, it happens three times that during the rotation of a group of photo, the operation freezes (never ends, I must kill and restart digikam) and one of the photos (the one currently proceeding?) is corrupted: the file cannot be read back and its size is smaller (from about 3M to 200Ko for example). So, it seems that digikam fails after a partial rewrite of the file. I put the serious severity because this is causing user data loss. Feel free to downgrade it if you want, but, for myself, I will not rotate my photos in digikam without having a copy elsewhere. I used to delete the photo on the camera just after the import. I will wait after the rotation now. Several remarks: - the problem is not systematic. It occurs to me 3 times and I rotate about 40~50 photos by group of 1 to 5 - I'm using a mysql database (not sure if this is relevant or not) - I'm using a solid-state DD with lot of ram (8Go), so disk access are fast (not sure if this is relevant or not) - when rotating the photo, there are lots of refreshes of the display of the thumbnails of the folder. Moreover, sometimes, after the rotation operation, the thumbnails are not displayed rotated until I hit the 'F5' key. => perhaps the bug is due to a bad interaction between the redraw and the rotate operation that are badly synchronized and try both to access to the same file at the same time (the redraw try to read a partially rewriten file and block the write). I never saw this bug with digikam 4:2.5.0-1 or previous versions.
