Hi! I was revising other servers and found severl others having the same issue, this one is a bit extrange as the upgrade that took place is the same as the one on the i686 server I reported a bit earlier, the differences are:
1- on time, this server due to mirrors timings did the upgrade on the 29th while my previous reported stable server had done the upgrade on the 30th 2- on sizes, as this new server has more things installed (like X server) 3- on the result, on this server the process holding things was not samba, even though it also has samba and it was upgraded, this time is hald, while hal was not upgraded This are the packages upgraded for the previous report, I had forgotten to add this: 2012-01-30 07:44:01,945 INFO Packages that are upgraded: base-files bzip2 cifs-utils dpkg libbz2-1.0 libc-ares2 libc-bin libc6 libgnutls26 libperl5.10 libwbclient0 linux-base linux-image-2.6.32-5-686 locales mdadm module-init-tools mutt perl perl-base perl-modules samba samba-common smbclient smbfs And this is for the machine of this report, the one having hald holding things: 2012-01-29 06:47:39,904 INFO Packages that are upgraded: base-files bzip2 cifs-utils dpkg dpkg-dev dselect firmware-linux-free libbz2-1.0 libc-bin libc6 libc6-i686 libdpkg-perl libgnutls26 libmtp8 libperl5.10 libpq5 libpurple0 libsmbclient libwbclient0 linux-base linux-image-2.6.32-5-686 locales mdadm module-init-tools mutt perl perl-base perl-modules pidgin pidgin-data samba samba-common smbclient smbfs tzdata xserver-common xserver-xorg-core These are the processes being run: root 2380 0.0 0.0 4416 544 ? Regenerating hal fdi cache ... Restarting Hardware abstraction layer: hald. Looks like some of the packages made hal triggers get processed and thus hald got restarted inheriting every fd.
