I think this bug is invalid; 1.6.0-1 was the first upload to Debian, so there's nothing it can overwrite. If someone has installed packages from some other source [0], it's up to them to make sure their system runs. (In theory a Breaks/Replaces on third-party packages could be added but since the code.google download page has 1.6.1 it's a bit difficult to do this -- which version should be used?) I suggest to (downgrade the severity of this bug to wishlist or) just close the bug.
