The result was immediate: blank screen, system unusable. For some reason, this module doesn't work on my system (not so rare, a Radeon 7500). As this kind of problem isn't uncommon (after all, there is a reason why the kernel isn't booted in framebuffer mode by default), you shouldn't try to load framebuffer drivers. For example they could be blacklisted. -- System Information: Debian Release: testing/unstable APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: i386 (i686) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.6.12-1-k7 Locale: LANG=fr_FR.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=fr_FR.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Versions of packages udev depends on: ii hotplug 0.0.20040329-25 Linux Hotplug Scripts ii initscripts 2.86.ds1-4 Standard scripts needed for bootin ii libc6 2.3.5-6 GNU C Library: Shared libraries an ii libselinux1 1.26-1 SELinux shared libraries ii lsb-base 3.0-9 Linux Standard Base 3.0 init scrip ii makedev 2.3.1-78 creates device files in /dev ii sed 4.1.4-4 The GNU sed stream editor -- .''`.
