Ok this problem was caused by my moving the repositories required for building the arch indep libraries to Build-Depends-Indep: the rest of the fix was good.
So this is really a new bug, caused by my effort to fix the other one. No matter. I have uploaded to mentors.net version 1.77.00.0005-4 which removes the Build-Depends-Indep: line, merging it into the Build-Depends: line. This webpage says there is a way to seperate the archetecture only builds, but it is too complicated and would be difficult to maintain.
