Package: broadcom-sta-modules-3.1.0-1-amd64
Version: 5.100.82.112-3+3.1.1-1
Severity: critical
Tags: upstream
Justification: breaks the whole system

Dear Maintainer,

I have an Acer One 722 Series, this one comes with the broadcom 4313 wlan
device that should work whit either the brcm80211 driver or the broadcom-sta
a.k.a wl driver, I just have tried both with the 2.6.38 kernel and i noticed
that the wl driver (broadcom-sta) works fine to me, even allowing to use the
wifi on/off function button of the netbook. (a thing that the brcm80211 driver
don't)

This just happens on the Kernel 2.6.38. When the Linux kernel version 3.1.0 was
installed, i've tried to boot the sistem, but the system crashes and keeps
frozen so i had to unplug the laptop and start over... but if i changed to
kernel 2.6.38 everything worked fine, i could use wireless, connect, disconnect
and have fun.

So i just thougth i just was a problem of having both kernels installed so i
just did a reinstallation of Debian Wheezy whit kernel 3.1.0.
Now The system crashes over and over, and i've noticed that was because some
kind of errors on the broadcom asociated drivers no matter what of them i
choose.(brcm80211 or broadcom-sta intalled on "rescue mode")
I decided to install the broadcom-sta driver that allows me to turn of the wlan
during boot so i can just use my netbook, but, when i turn on the wlan, the
system crashes and remains frozen even during boot (after load modules) or when
i been working for a wile on the netbook. I have no doubt about the origin of
the problems and all the evidence points towar some driver-kernel
uncompatibility.

lspci reports:
07:00.0 Network controller [0280]: Broadcom Corporation BCM4313 802.11b/g/n
Wireless LAN Controller [14e4:4727] (rev 01)

And it seems to be supported by the broadcom-sta driver.

Its the first time a do a bug report, im sorry if i am not supplying enough
information.
