Package: util-linux Version: 2.19.1-5 Severity: critical Justification: breaks the whole system
Dear Maintainer, *** Please consider answering these questions, where appropiate *** * What led up to the situation? Updating some packages via dselect. * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or ineffective)? Shutting down the system normally and restarting it some hours later. * What was the outcome of this action? The system doesn't boot up because /sbin/fsck.ext3 (a symlink to /sbin/fsck) fails with the following error message: fsck from util-linux 2.19.1 fsck.ext3: symbol lookup error: fsck.ext3: undefined symbol: set_com_err_gettext * What outcome did you expect instead? A normal boot process. :-) As workaround, I booted from the debian installer CD and replaced my system's /sbin/fsck binary with the installer's one (explaining the "debsums errors found"). *** End of the template - remove these lines *** -- System Information: Debian Release: wheezy/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 3.0.0-1-amd64 (SMP w/4 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=C, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages util-linux depends on: ii debconf [debconf-2.0] 1.5.41 ii dpkg 1.16.1 ii initscripts 2.88dsf-13.11 ii install-info 4.13a.dfsg.1-8 ii libblkid1 2.19.1-5 ii libc6 2.13-21 ii libncurses5 5.9-2 ii libselinux1 2.1.0-1 ii libslang2 2.2.4-3 ii libuuid1 2.19.1-5 ii lsb-base 3.2-28 ii tzdata 2011k-1 ii zlib1g 1:1.2.3.4.dfsg-3 util-linux recommends no packages.
