Package: python-awn-extras
Version: 0.4.0-3.1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Dear Maintainer,

I attempted to upgrade to AWN 4.0.4 in sid. All my other packages are
up to date. python-awn-extras fails to install with the following
message:

Retrieving bug reports... Done
Parsing Found/Fixed information... Done
(Reading database ... 336028 files and directories currently installed.)
Unpacking python-awn-extras (from .../python-awn-extras_0.4.0-4_amd64.deb) ...
dpkg: error processing
/var/cache/apt/archives/python-awn-extras_0.4.0-4_amd64.deb (--unpack):
unable to open '/usr/share/pyshared/awn/extras/__init__.py.dpkg-new': No such
file or directory
configured to not write apport reports

The package, and thus awn-python-applets-{core, extras}, cannot be installed.

Did you create the symlink manually, perhaps following the "advice" from <http://bugs.debian.org/634684#10>?

this was precisely the issue. thanks!

Thanks for information. As Gergely Nagy said in <http://bugs.debian.org/643304#15>, your problem should go away if you remove and then reinstall the package.

I'm closing the bug now, as it was caused by user error.
