Hi, I believe I found the issue, which is the forced -DGTK_DISABLE_DEPRECATED flag in libgnomecanvas/gnome/gw/Makefile.am, and that the libgnomeui headers don't like.
I have a patch fixing it (using $(GTK_DEPRECATED_CFLAGS) instead, I'll upload a NMU later today unless someone advises against it, and probably include Colin's patch as well to fix the test suite.
