Same problem here, and since more than a year now.
I wasn't aware eiither that UW-Imapd was deprecated, so removing the
daemons might help others not fall in the same trap.
The problem (first couple lines of the mbox file corrupted) happened
with several email clients I tried :
- roundcube
- thunderbird (several versions)
- android mail
- android K9-mail
from what I read I deduct that at some point these clients either
accessed the file while new email was being written to it, and that
maybe some of these clients attempted to 'multithread' and accessed the
file concurrently during the same session (Only one client connected,
several concurrent accesses).
I'll give Dovecott a try, thanks for the tip.
